At a time when the prevalence of women in country is being highly criticized, it was reassuring to witness one woman prove that they aren’t going anywhere. Jana Kramer is at the top of her game and has been impacting radio waves with her new single “I Got the Boy.” I have always enjoyed seeing Kramer live ever since I saw her open for Blake Shelton on the Ten Times Crazier Tour. Her performance last night blew all the previous shows out of the water. The energy she brought to The Bluestone in Columbus, Ohio was off the charts.

“I’d be lying if I said there was anywhere else I’d have rather spent my New Year’s Eve. It’s one thing to watch a show as a fan, but to be a friend & watch these fellas do what they love…it’s a feeling that can’t be put into words. I could’ve easily watched them sing their songs all night long and never have gotten bored. If this night was any indication of what 2016 is gonna be like, I’m pretty damn excited. These four dudes definitely lived up to the hype of making this show “A Night That You’ll Never Forget”. http://thetennesseelife.blogspot.com/2016/01/concert-review-nye-with-love-theft-joel.html

It would be an understatement to say that a lot has happened since Whiskey Myers was last in the recording studio. Over two whirlwind years, the gritty Texas band hit #1 on the iTunes Country Chart with their breakout third album ‘Early Morning Shakes,’ earned raves everywhere from Rolling Stone to USA Today, and toured the US and UK relentlessly, slaying massive festival crowds and sharing stages with Lynyrd Skynyrd, Hank Williams Jr., Jamey Johnson, and more along the way. You’d be forgiven, then, for expecting things to work a little differently this time around when the band reunited with acclaimed producer Dave Cobb for their stellar new album, ‘Mud.’ But as it turns out, success doesn’t change a Southern gentleman, and they don’t come any more Southern than Whiskey Myers.

Fueled by larger-than-life performances honed tight from countless nights on the road, ‘Mud’ finds the band scaling new heights of songwriting and musicianship, with searing guitars, soulful vocals, and indelible hooks. While their approach to the music and humble, hard-working attitudes may not have altered, there have been developments in the Whiskey Myers world, most notably with the arrival of new faces. For the recording sessions, the band’s five founding members—Cody Cannon on lead vocals and guitar, Cody Tate and John Jeffers on guitars, Gary Brown on bass, and Jeff Hogg on drums—fleshed out their sound with the addition of fiddler/keyboard player Jon Knudson and percussionist Tony Kent, who are both now full-time members. “They bring a great energy, and I think it’s really helped our sound and makes the band more versatile,” explains Cannon. “There’s less room onstage now, but sometimes a family grows.”

Michael Ray Roach (born April 29, 1988), best known as Michael Ray, is an American country music singer and songwriter. He is signed to Warner Music Nashville, for which he has released his debut single, “Kiss You in the Morning“. The song has reached No. 1 on Country Airplay. Before this single’s release, Ray was mentored by John Rich of Big & Rich on the singing competition The Next: Fame Is at Your Doorstep, which he won. He and Rich co-wrote Big & Rich’s 2015 single, “Run Away with You“.[1]

In March 2017, it was reported that Ray would put his acting chops to the test when he revealed that he landed a guest role on CMT’s show, Nashville.[2]

Love and Theft is an American country music group founded by Stephen Barker Liles, Eric Gunderson, and Brian Bandas, all three of whom alternated as lead singers and acoustic guiarists. Signed to Lyric Street Records subsidiary Carolwood Records in 2009, Love and Theft made their chart debut in early 2009 with the single “Runaway,” which reached the Top 10 on Billboard Hot Country Songs. The band’s debut album, World Wide Open, was released on August 25, 2009.

In 2011, following the departure of Bandas, Love and Theft continued as a duo consisting of Gunderson and Liles. The duo moved to RCA Records Nashville that year and released the single “Angel Eyes“, which became their first number 1 single. It and the Top 40 singles “Runnin’ Out of Air” and “If You Ever Get Lonely” all appear on their second, self-titled album.

Devin Dawson is an American country music singer-songwriter.

Devin Dawson first became famous after filming a mashup of Taylor Swift songs, which gained popularity on YouTube.[2][3][4] His debut single “All on Me” is also his first hit song.[2] With the help of producer Jay Joyce, he signed to Warner Bros. Records in 2017.[5] Dawson’s “All on Me” has charted on the Hot Country Songs and Country Airplay charts.

Dawson has also toured with Tim McGraw and Faith Hill.[6]

The Eighth Annual Beatles Marathon will take place at the Bluestone, on Saturday December 30. A 12 hour live performance of every Beatles album and every Beatles song in chronological order, The Beatles Marathon begins at 1 in the afternoon, with Please Please Me, and ends with Abbey Road some time around midnight. An assortment of 12 Columbus musicians will, once again, faithfully recreate all 214 official Beatles songs with an attention to detail. Attendees are encouraged to come and go as they please, and trace the evolution of the Beatles throughout the day. This is currently, the only publicized single performance of the entire Beatles catalog in the world. .

3LAU approaches electronic dance music from many unconventional angles. The artist, multi-instrumentalist, producer, and entrepreneur born Justin Blau usually begins his compositions on the piano.

“I like to create the framework for a song traditionally and then add the electronic elements later.” It’s a style he’s been cultivating since childhood. Commencing piano lessons at the age of three, he’ll tell you that he couldn’t go to sleep without classical music as a kid. His tastes began to veer towards the likes of Radiohead and Sigur Ros in high school as he taught himself guitar, bass, and drums. During his sophomore year of college, he took a trip to Sweden and fell in love with electronic dance music. Upon returning home, 3LAU began creating.

Taking a leave from college in his junior year, he became a favorite on the club scene through relentless touring, initially turning heads with his innovative mashups. His 2014 original single “How You Love Me” [feat. Bright Lights] dominated radio and closed out 2014 as SiriusXM BPM’s “Most Played Record of the Year.” More recently, Justin realized that he wanted to do more with music, so he launched Blume—the “first not-for-profit dance music label and philanthropic movement.”

With over 5 original releases through BLUME, 3LAU was able to raise 200,000 for Pencils of Promise in 2016, and in 2017 he continues to give to different charities with each new release. For both 3LAU and BLUME it’s just the beginning.

Approved Image- A Thousand Horses

America’s bona fide band of brothers A Thousand Horses deliver an authentic fusion of Southern rock and contemporary Country mixed with rowdy jams. Their 13-track project BRIDGES features working man’s anthem “Preachin’ to the Choir” along with seven acoustic tracks, six of which were recorded live in the U.K. at the famed Metropolis Studios. The group’s debut single “Smoke” made Country Aircheck history as the highest debut for a new artist and solidified the band (with at least three members) as the first this decade to score a #1 with their first single on the Billboard Country Airplay Chart. A Thousand Horses have landed multiple awards show nominations, most recently vying for the title of ACM New Vocal Duo or Group at the 52nd Annual ACM Awards. The band’s debut album, SOUTHERNALITY, blends Southern Rock and influential sounds of The Black Crowes and Rolling Stones’ Exile on Main Street era. The talented foursome soars with Michael Hobby on lead vocals as Bill Satcher and Zach Brown on guitar and Graham Deloach on bass round out their unique grooves. After opening for Country powerhouse Jason Aldean and a string of performances in the U.K. last fall, A Thousand Horses are currently headlining shows across the U.S. before kicking off their opening run on Kid Rock’s AMERICAN ROCK n ROLL TOUR 2018 in January. New music from the band is on the horizon, with details coming soon. For more information and tour dates, visit AThousandHorses.com.

Warner Bros. Records/Warner Music Nashville country artist Chris Janson was born to entertain crowds. The electrifying multi-instrumentalist is known as much for his hit songwriting as his “infectious” (Billboard) performances, with Rolling Stone describing him as having “a mesmerizing stage presence that most arena-headlining artists would kill for.”

“Fix a Drink”, the lead single from his highly anticipated sophomore album Everybody, went Top 10 at country radio, though Janson is no stranger to the charts. In 2015, Janson’s breakthrough No. 1 Platinum single “Buy Me A Boat” was the 7th bestselling country song of the year. The singer/songwriter has also penned multiple top-charting hits including “Truck Yeah” (Tim McGraw), “That’s How I’ll Always Be” (Tim McGraw), “I Love This Life” (LoCash), and over 25 additional hit songs recorded by a long list of established artists.

Janson joined Sam Hunt on the road for the 15 in a 30 Tour and announced The EVERYBODY Tour with headlining dates through 2017. He has become a Grand Ole Opry regular, taking the legendary stage more than 150 times to date, and made numerous television appearances including The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon, Late Night with Seth Meyers, CONAN, The Today Show, ACM Awards and ACCA Awards.

The New York Times declares “…in the emergent field of gentleman country — an antidote to the bros of the last few years — William Michael Morgan stands tall.” The praise continues with his debut album VINYL, being hailed as a “sturdy, reflective debut album….a throwback to the temperate wisdom of midcareer George Strait.” The record, which opened in the Top 5 on Billboard’s Country Albums Chart, has landed him on countless year-end best album lists, including Rolling Stone, iTunes and Saving Country Music. His breakout mega-hit “I Met A Girl” has earned top song of the year nods from Billboard and NPR. The song topped charts and has garnered over a billion audience impressions, including over 25 million on-demand streams. Morgan recently released the title track as his third single. The tune harkens back to yesteryear with a modern twist.

Biography

At the heart of Staind’s loud, angst-laden music are the confessional lyrics and introspective personality of frontman Aaron Lewis. While other post-grunge bands were successful in mining the dark caverns once explored by Soundgarden and Alice in Chains, Lewis allowed his sensitivity to pour freely from his words and often pensive vocals, enabling Staind to strike a balance between heavy metal bombast and thoughtful, melodic rock. Born in Springfield, Vermont, Lewis listened to folk music as a child. The son of divorced parents, he chronicled the emotional turmoil in his childhood with Staind, namely on tracks like “Epiphany” and “For You,” from Break the Cycle. Like the late Kurt Cobain from Nirvana, Lewis cast an unpretentious, no-frills image, exhibiting a brooding disposition and emotional vulnerability that troubled youths could relate to.

Lewis recorded his first album with Staind, Tormented, in 1996. Staind remained on the fringes of mainstream acceptance until “Outside,” a live collaboration between Lewis and Limp Bizkit’s Fred Durst during the 1999 Family Values Tour, blew up on alternative and mainstream rock stations a year later. With only his acoustic guitar as his musical backing, Lewis delivered a raw, anguished performance of a song that Staind would later record in the studio for Break the Cycle. The track carved the path for Staind’s subsequent commercial breakthrough.

Staind sustained a decade of popularity before Lewis broke free with a solo career in 2011, refashioning himself as a conservative country singer on his 2011 EP, Town Line. He had some success with the album but before he could capitalize on his country career, he reunited with Staind for an eponymous album in 2011. In 2012, he prepped his full-length country debut, The Road, which appeared toward the end of the year. Thanks to the minor hits “Endless Summer,” “Country Boy,” and “Forever,” the album went to seven on Billboard’s country chart, and he followed it with another country album, Sinner, in the fall of 2016. ~ Michael Sutton, Rovi

Biography

Hailing from Mobile, Alabama and based in Nashville, Tennessee, the contemporary country duo Muscadine Bloodline certainly sounds southern but they don’t necessarily seem beholden to either home town. At times, the pair of Charlie Muncaster and Gary Stanton can recall the plainspoken sound of Texas Red Dirt country; sometimes they kick up a bit of Southern rock, and sometimes they have the polished songcraft synonymous with the Music City. All of this is evident on their eponymous 2017 debut EP.

The EP Muscadine Bloodline followed just a year after Muncaster and Stanton formed the group. The two singer/songwriters grew up in Mobile, but they didn’t meet until they were both actively pursuing musical careers as adults. Stanton crossed Muncaster’s path when the former was looking for an opening act and they soon started jamming, then decided to form a band. They headed to Nashville and quickly released three singles in 2016 — “Southern Boy Cure,” “Porch Swing Angel,” and “Shut Your Mouth” — before cutting the Muscadine Bloodline EP with producer Luke Laird. The EP appeared early in 2017. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, Rovi

Ashley McBryde- Approved Image

Ashley McBryde Biography…

“I hear the crowd, I look around, and I can’t find one empty chair. Not bad for a girl going nowhere” sings Ashley McBryde on “Girl Goin’ Nowhere,” the seminal title track from her forthcoming LP. They’re words built from experience: over the course of her life, McBryde’s been finding her own way to fill those seats and sway those hearts since the very first time her teacher told her that her dreams of writing songs in Nashville would never see the light of day. Every time she was brought down, she persevered; trusting her timeless tone and keen, unwavering eye for the truth. It paid off. In April, Eric Church brought her on stage and called her a “whiskey-drinking badass,” confessing that he’s a massive fan. The rest of the world is quickly catching on, too.

Dubbed as one of Rolling Stone’s “Artists You Need To Know,” citing she’s “an Arkansas red-clay badass, with the swagger of Hank Jr. and the songwriting of Miranda Lambert,” McBryde fearlessly lays it all on the line, and it’s that honest all-in approach that has led to NPR critic Ann Powers to ask if McBryde could be “among the first post-Stapleton country stars?” McBryde’s album will showcase an artistic vision that will prove her to be one of the genre’s keenest working storytellers, bringing unwavering honesty back into a pop-preoccupied genre. Pulling tales from every corner of her human experience, McBryde sings with fire and fury, laughing and swigging that brown stuff along the way.

McBryde was raised in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas. At three, she’d secretly pluck her father’s guitar like an upright bass, and after about the 17th time being caught, her father bought her a guitar of her own. When she was twelve, she played her parents and grandparents her very first composition. It was at Arkansas State when, while a member of the marching band, McBryde finally started sharing her voice with others, and finally moved to Nashville in 2007 where steadily worked a circuit of dive bars, biker hangouts, and colorful joints fighting to have her songs heard.

Her first EP, the self-released 2016 Jalopies and Expensive Guitars was just a taste of what McBryde can do, and, on her full-length debut, she will meld her songwriting chops with the vision of producer Jay Joyce, peppering her tales with a touch of guitar-driven rock fury. McBryde isn’t afraid to tell the truth, get raw and real and use the spirits of country, folk and rock when it serves her greater purpose. And that’s to tell the stories that shake us, make us and tell us a little more about what it’s like to be human.
